Paolo Cassina è un regista e filmmaker, vive a Milano. Dopo il liceo artistico, frequenta un corso intensivo della Regione Lombardia in filmaking e post-produzione, finanziato dal Fondo sociale europeo.

Arricchisce la sua formazione con training specifici, come il laboratorio di cinema e scrittura con Werner Herzog alla scuola Holden di Torino e la masterclass “Documentario, cinema della realtà” con Daniele Segre e Marco Bellocchio.

Dopo aver lavorato come video-editor per diversi anni, collaborando con alcune fra le più note case di produzione italiane, si dedica alla regia e alle riprese video, realizzando numerosi cortometraggi che partecipano a diversi festival in Italia.

Dal 2010 è attivo come regista e videomaker in ambito televisivo, web e aziendale e si specializza in documentari, docu-fiction e reportages.

Nel 2014, per la trasmissione “Lucignolo 2.0” di Italia 1, realizza con Elena Redaelli l’inchiesta “Con gli occhi della Neet Generation” che vince il premio giornalistico Ilaria Alpi.

Nel 2017, per la trasmissione “La Gabbia Open” di La7 realizza con Annalisa Corti il videoreportage sul ghetto islamico di San Siro che si aggiudica il premio giornalistico Guido Vergani.

Da sempre è attento alle tematiche sociali e a dare voce alle persone che hanno poche possibilità di essere ascoltate.

Il suo documentario “Invisibili – il documentario sulle reazioni avverse che tutti devono vedere”, realizzato nel 2022 in breve tempo e con pochissimo budget, ha avuto un grande successo con centinaia di migliaia di visualizzazioni on-line e più di 500 proiezioni in Italia e all’estero.

Nel 2024 escono il suo primo libro “Invisibili – storie di straordinaria resistenza” e il nuovo documentario “Non è andato tutto bene”, un lavoro molto complesso che analizza i tre anni di pandemia da Covid19 da un'ottica completamente nuova.

Paolo Cassina is a filmmaker living in Milan.

After graduating in Art school, he attends an intensive class in filmmaking and post-production, sponsored by Regione Lombardia and founded by the European Social Fund.

Other significant training experiences are the “Writing for Cinema” workshop by Werner Herzog, hosted by the Holden School of Turin, and the “Documentary, Reality Cinema” workshop by Daniele Segre and Marco Bellocchio.

He has been working as a video-editor for many years, collaborating with some of the most prestigious Cinema and TV studios in Italy. He is the director and filmmaker of many short movies, selected and competing in numerous Award Festivals.

Since 2010, he’s been active as director and video-maker for TV, Web and Corporate productions. He specializes in the documentary, docu-fiction and reportage.

In 2014, working with journalist Elena Redaelli, he shoots and edits “Con gli occhi della Neet Generation” [“Through the Neet Generation’s eyes”], produced and broadcasted by Italia Uno’s “Lucignolo 2.0”. The reportage wins the Ilaria Alpi Award, one of the most important journalistic Prizes in Italy.

In 2017, the La 7’s “La Gabbia Open” video-reportage, he directs with journalist Annalisa Corti, documenting the Islamic Ghetto of San Siro in Milan, wins the Guido Vergani Award.

He has always been attentive to social issues and to giving voice to people who have little chance of being heard.

His documentary “Invisibili – il documentario sulle reazioni avverse che tutti devono vedere” [“Invisibili – the documentary on adverse reactions that everyone must see”], made in 2022 in a short time and with very little budget, was a great success with hundreds of thousands of views online and more than 500 screenings in Italy and abroad.

In 2024, his first book “Invisibili – storie di straordinaria resistenza” ["Invisibles - stories of extraordinary resistance"] and the new documentary “Non è andato tutto bene” ["Not everything went well"] were released. The new film is a very complex work that analyzes the three years of the Covid19 pandemic from a completely new perspective.
